Hair loss service
Hair loss can sometimes indicate an underlying condition, in most cases it is harmless. Our services aim to identify the root cause and support healthier hair growth.
-
When you arrive, our pharmacist will start with a brief consultation to review your medical history and ensure the treatment is safe for you. This will take place in a private, confidential setting.
Based on your medical history, the pharmacist will recommend the most suitable treatment.
-
The treatment is not suitable for individuals who:
have a prostate condition or prostate cancer
are under 18 years old
are female
have galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption
-
Hair loss is natural, we lose between 50 - 100 hairs a day on average. It typically isn’t something to worry about.
Some cases of hair loss are permanent, such as male pattern baldness.
Other cases are temporary, and can be caused by:
an illness
stress
cancer treatment
weight loss
thyroid problems
iron deficiency
-
If you find an excessive amount of hair on your pillow, shower or bath, or when styling your hair, it could indicate an underlying condition.
A receding hairline, a thinning crown or general thinning throughout the top area of the head are common signs of male pattern baldness. Male pattern baldness doesn’t affect the sides or back of the hair.
-
Temporary hair loss is often reversible, particularly when treated early. However, male/female pattern baldness and cicatricial alopecia are generally not reversible, though they can be managed and slowed with medical or cosmetic treatments.
