Dengue vaccination service

Dengue fever is spread by mosquitoes, our vaccination service helps protect you from illness while travelling to high risk areas.

  • This service is recommended for anyone travelling to a high-risk dengue area, particularly those at greater risk of infection, including those who:

    • are very young

    • are older

    • are pregnant

    • have a weakened immune system

    • have certain health conditions, including asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure or a condition that makes you bleed more easily

    • have had dengue in the past

  • When you arrive, a trained clinician will carry out a short consultation to confirm the vaccine is suitable for you. They will ask about your medical history, allergies, and any current medications.

Once everything is confirmed, the vaccine will be given as a quick injection, usually into the upper arm.

  • Our pharmacists can provide advice if you’re travelling to a high-risk area for dengue.

You can also protect yourself by:

    • Using DEET-based insect repellent on your skin
